About  Me

H.M. Darling with two books

In the years that followed, I went on to write more than 25 books about everything from magical twin sisters to vampire brothers, strangely similar to the Salvatore brothers in Vampire Diaries (to this day, I am a die-hard Damon girlie) to siren queens and fae kings.

In 2019, I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in English Literature and Creative Writing. I now use it to write books full of loveable characters, swoon-worthy love interests, and lots and lots of spice!

I published my first book, Heir of Ashes, in March 2022. It was both the beginning and the end of a dream. I had written the first draft of Heir of Ashes in 2012 and spent 10 years wishing for it to become something more.

Hi, I'm H.M. Darling!

I'm H.M. Darling, a fantasy and paranormal romance author who writes to make you feel. My friends call me Hayley, and my pronouns are she/her. My writing journey began as soon as I was old enough to hold a pen... and, as the saying goes, the rest is history.

The first book I ever wrote was about what would happen if I woke up one day and had everything I wanted, including a stable full of unicorns and being best friends with Miley Cyrus. I was nine years old.

Publishing Heir of Ashes was the beginning of a new dream—a dream in which I spend my life creating new worlds, writing new stories, and sharing them with the world. I believe it is my true calling and what makes me who I am.

Apart from being an author, I am a sister, daughter, cat mom, and fiancee to the most wonderful man in the world. I live and burn in Arizona, though I often wish it was anywhere else (IYKYK).

When I'm not writing, you can find me collecting Breyer horses, listening to Taylor Swift, or reading a book from my never-ending TBR list—occasionally all at the same time. I dream of traveling the world, and my bucket list includes things like seeing wild orcas, seeing the Northern Lights, and riding horseback on the beach.

Family Photos

It's a tradition of mine to take a new "family photo" every time I release a book. Here's a look back on my publishing journey so far.
